October/November's OTMs- Check it Out!

Artist of the Month: Kazunari Ninomiya
Kazunari, also known as Nino, was born June 17, 1983 in Katsushika-ku in Tokyo Japan. When he was little he was often blamed for things he hadn't done and was bullied by other students. He often remained withdrawn to avoid such problems. Nino grew up in a low-income household, always trying to save money. Nino had always dreamed about being a professional baseball player, but fate had a different answer. His sister and cousin sent in an application in for Nino for Johnny's Jr. He went to the audition because his mother said she would pay him 5,000 yen if he did. In 1996 Nino became part of Johnny's Jrs and performed in temporary units such as MAIN and B.A.D. In 1999 he debuted in the group Arashi. In the early years of Arashi, Nino finished up high school.

Much of Nino's career centers around Arashi. Early in the debut of Arashi, Nino debated quitting the group due to the high stress levels. He stayed in the group, the reason for the decision is unclear. During his musical career, Nino has blossomed various musical talents other than singing, which include guitar and musical compositions. He also can play piano, drums, bass, and blues harp.

In 2002 Nino collaborated with fellow Arashi member Ohno Satoshi, and created a comedy duo named Ohmiya SK. The two sing songs that Nino composed, and do comedy routines to fill in costume changes during concerts. The two fought over management because the reaction from fans seemed unclear. The duo was a success, and still perform today. Unfortunately, the Ohmiya SK performances never make it into the DVD releases of the tours.

As for Nino's acting career, it started in 1998, with Amagi Goe, before Arashi. He continued to act in various TV series, without any major roles. Though in 2000 he acted in Namida o Fuite which got an impressive 20.1 rating. The roles and dramas he acted in continued to grow and become more notable, including Stand Up!! in 2003, in which he played the main character. Generally, Nino stars in dramas, though he has done various hosting for shows in which he shows in comedic skills.

Nino's first feature length film was in 2002 with PIKA*NCHI Life is Hard Dakedo Happy. The movie featured all the Arashi members. The movie spawned a sequal in 2004. In 2003 he starred in Ao no Honoo, a drama. Due to his great performance in film and television, Nino was picked to act in a Hollywood film directed by legendary Clint Eastwood. In 2006 he spent several weeks in the US away from performances with Arashi. Later that year he did voice acting for the movie Tekkon Kinkreet. He filmed another movie with fellow Arashi members in 2007 with Kiiroi Namida, which is a drama about friends in 1950's.
