October/November's OTMs- Check it Out!
TCG stands for Trading Card Game. The idea was created by Calico who opened the first TCG. The idea is that you can go to an online site. When you sign up you get a starter pack which includes some cards, some that you asked for, some that are randomly selected. The goal is to try and master a set of cards that you like. To do this you can look at the pages of other members and see if they have the cards you don't have for your set. Then you take the cards you don't want and trade it when them. To earn more cards you can play different games on the site. That is the basic concept.
Once you have received all your cards and posted them on your site, go to the member page. Click on the different names on the page and view their cards. If you find someone with a card you want, look at where the card is placed. There are several different ways people categorize their cards, usually keeping, may trading, and trading. If the card is in may trade, you will want to make sure you have a card on their wishlist to trade. If it is under trading, this implies they don't care for the card and sometimes, the owner will trade the card for anything. Look on the page for an email or contact form. Once you get a hold of them, you will want to label your card as "pending" on your site to prevent other people asking for it. Give about a week for the person to reply back to you. If they don't you may want to remove the card from your pending list.
What Should My Trade Off Look Like?
If you have to email someone instead of a form, cut to the chase. Just send an email that looks something similar to this:
Will you trade your Attic Cat005 for my Kagen no Tsuki014? -Jennifer http://sonic.wingless-angel.net
It is important to offer your website just incase they don't want the card you offered. You may have another card they want and you didn't know about.
Great! They Accepted! Now What?
Usually they will attach the card you want in the reply back. Reply back to their email with the card you offered attached to the email. Then downloaded the card you got and post it to your site. DON'T FORGET TO TAKE DOWN THE CARD YOU GAVE THE PERSON! It helps to delete the card from your domain and computer to prevent confusion in the future.
How Can I Get More Cards?
There are many ways to get cards. Occasionally, owners like to have freebies. This is when they give out cards to people for an event or because of new cards. They are called freebies because all you did was check the site for updates. You can usually get freebies by checking forums on certain TCGs. A more fun way to get cards is to win them at games. Usually the games revolve around trivia games, so if you are bad at that you can donate things such as images, buttons, and badges to the game. For more information about our specific ways to earn cards go read Chapter 4.
What Are Levels & Badges?
Levels are a tool to help out other trading card members. Your level is determined by how many cards you have. The more cards you have the higher a level you are. This is important thing for traders because the more cards a person has, the greatest chance they will having finding the card they want. This is also a nice way to earn cards, and add more of a competitive edge to the game. To flaunt your level, you can post a badge on your site. The badge will have your level displayed on it. When you level up, you contact the site owner and post a new badge. Most TCGs reward players with cards when they level up.
